According to the ”Domestic Violence Resource Center” website, one in four women will have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime. Nearly three out of four Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence. On average more than three women are murdered by their partners everday. It is time to change the statistics. The artists and staff of Betta Muzik Group (BMG) want to be a catalyst to help bring about that change.
Imagine growing up as a kid witnessing the man you’re supposed to look up to abuse the woman who nutures and cares for you. This is what BMG’s president and singer/songwriter, Ryan Corbin, experienced throughout his childhood. Ryan’s first single, ”Traffic,” speaks to that experience. In the song, ”Traffic” represents the obstacles that often prevent the person who is being abused from leaving the abuser. Ryan’s mother’s ”Traffic” was her concern for the well-being of her four children, whose father was her abuser. ”Traffic” illustrates a man in love with a woman who is caught in the ”Traffic” of an abusive relationship, and his determination to help her out of her current situation and away from her abuser for good.
True to his moniker, ”The King of Hearts,” Ryan feels it is his duty to protect his female fans, who he calls his ”Heartbeats,” by speaking to those who may be caught in abusive relationships and showing them it is possible to get out and find love that doesn’t include abuse. It is Ryan and the BMG family’s hope that ”Traffic” will serve as a source of inspiration for women from all walks of life who are faced with similar circumstances as Ryan’s mother. In honor of her, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this single will be donated to Safe Horizon, the largest victims service agency in America.
